This blog aims to discuss the specificities of savings and retail banking. World Savings Banks Institute (WSBI) and European Savings Banks Group (ESBG) represent the global and European voice of savings and retail banks vis-à-vis the international and the EU institutions.
The retail banking universe itself is very diverse. This diversity reflects differences not only in the evolution of the institutions themselves, but also in the underlying economic and political conditions in national markets. However, their business approach and values do constitute a strong common denominator. They are committed to the “3 R’s” of banking: Retail oriented, Regionally focused and Responsible members of their communities.
Members of the two associations are located in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Specific regions often share specific characteristics and they can benefit from the extended cooperation provided by WSBI and ESBG.
